Grocery Shopping Day

Well, today was grocery shopping day. I make two big trips each month and today was one of those days. Normally I am organized with a list and all my coupons and strategy for which stores I need to get to. Well, I woke up and it was a miserable, rainy, windy day. I totally was not into shopping today. Usually on Thursday's I have my gift card list sent to my daughter's school and have my shopping well planned. We can purchase store and restaurant gift cards from her school and depending on the store can earn as much as 5% back towards tuition by buying gift cards through school...free month or two of tuition, count me in! I didn't do that this week...any of it..gift cards, list, plan...none of it...I am so embarassed to admit that since I have been on a huge kick to save money since the beginning of the year. I know it was the rain and misery outside. The thought of shlopping (I think I made a new word!) in and out of stores in the rain with a four year old just didn't appeal to me. But that is just what we did. My jeans were soaked from climbing into the back of the suv to retrieve my little shampoo waster. (Refer to a previous post about how my little guy isn't very frugal...I now call him the shampoo waster.) Anyway, glad I went out. I typically buy many of the same things and at least I had all my coupons organized. I did want to share one lucky find. My kids love Mac N Cheese (yuck) and the grocery store had the 5 pack on sale with a coupon on the front for $2.50 off a Tombstone frozen pizza. Not big on frozen pizza but I went to check it out....turns out the pizza was on sale for $3.33 so I ended up getting yucky mac n cheese and the frozen pizza that was all of .83 cents! So my advice for the day is to be sure to look for those coupons attached to items for instant savings on that product or even another, as was my pizza today.
Tomorrow we are taking the kids to an Easter Egg hunt...please let the rain stop...I already promised them we would go and the flier said rain or shine, or with my luck, MUD! Note: have the kids wear old shoes...lol. I'll post pictures of the fun we have shlopping in the mud for Easter eggs!
